| A rare reflex epilepsy syndrome characterized by reflex myoclonic seizures affecting orofacial muscles triggered by reading. If reading continues, these may worsen, and a generalized tonic-clonic seizure may occur. Seizures are induced mainly by reading, but also by other tasks related to language. Age of onset is typically in the late teens (median is 17 and a half years, range is 10 to 46 years). Development and cognition are typically normal. Neurological examination is normal. |
