Ring artifact on CT
Ring artifact on computed tomography
An error caused by a malfunction or miscalibration of a single detector element (or a small group of elements). As the X-ray tube rotates during helical or axial acquisition, the defective detector produces a consistent error at a fixed radial position. During image reconstruction, this error results in concentric circular artifacts.
