Delusion of impaired hair growth due to perceived material in skin (disorder)
Delusion of impaired hair growth due to perceived material in skin
A delusional belief in which an individual is convinced that hair will not grow normally unless a perceived substance, material or blockage is removed from the skin surrounding the hair roots. Historically, this phenomenon has sometimes been referred to as "trichophobia" although that term is a misnomer because it literally refers to fear of hair rather than a delusional somatic belief.
